No…absolutely not. And, for that matter, if the promotion is only given to those that can speak spanish then isn’t that discrimination?…..oh, no, wait a minute….I apologize….discrimination can only be claimed if you are a minority…sorry, my bad. The fact remains at this point in our country’s history that we have indeed been “occupied” by those that we welcomed into this country. Yes, you can whine and whimper all day about how all of us are from another country waaayyy back in our roots but you CAN’T argue the fact that the language in this country is, and should always be, E N G L I S H. Period. Why is that changing you ask? Because we allow it. And why do we have to allow it? Because if we speak up and voice OUR opinions of how we think it is wrong to add another language then we are called racists…and boy are the businesses who use cheap labor, especially illegal labor, in this country happy to oblige those coming in by making it as easy as possible by adding “their” language, “their” television and radio stations, “their” grocery and convenience stores and “their” advertising so as to make “their” transition as smooth as possible and to lure even more into “their” new country…the USA or more aptly stated, “United Spain of America”.

I said this same thing during high school 20 years ago. They had just made a requirement to have one year of Spanish class. The reasoning was because the forecast was that there would be more and more Spanish people coming here and we would have to be able to communicate. I said “Shouldn’t they be the ones learning English since they are the ones coming here?, Why are we made to learn Spanish when we made no decision on the matter?” I got no answer. Same as we get now when we question this. It is ridiculous and we should have all refused this from the very beginning. At least those of us who were adults at the time.

Wow, and here I was hoping that my husband and I would escape to where he’s from in Wisconsin where they actually realize that America is a country in which we speak ENGLISH. I was born and raised in California, and have been refusing to learn Spanish since the 7th grade. Though I am in the health care field I still refuse, deciding to learn only what is necessary to provide care. The fact that people can come to this country and expect US to learn THEIR language is DISGUSTING. My great grandfather came here from Italy and was PROUD to learn ENGLISH. He may have had an accent, he may have not been able to write as well as everyone, but damn it he KNEW ENGLISH. The fact that we cater to these people makes me sick, and still pisses my grandfather off so badly that he will walk off swearing in Italian if he encounters someone that refuses to learn English. This country needs to STOP trying to be politically correct, because it’s only hindering our progress. I am NOT racist, I just **** it when people expect me to adapt to them when they are in MY country. If you want to be here, COME HERE LEGALLY, LEARN ENGLISH, AND FLY THE AMERICAN FLAG ABOVE ALL OTHERS. Sure, my great grandfather had an Italian flag in his yard until the day he died, but it flew BELOW the American flag, because America gave him a better life, America was where he lived, and American was what he wanted to be.

In short yes, we need to STOP catering to illegals and kick them ALL out. No, I shouldnt have to need to know spanish to get a promotion, none the less to get a job in general (in California more often then not you will NOT be hired if you do not know spanish and there’s someone who is applying that does). The government needs to protect AMERICANS. The freedoms my husband fights for are for AMERICANS. WE NEED TO TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK AND NOT GIVE A DAMN WHO IT OFFENDS. It is OUR country. Period.

I only hope that people soon wake up to the way this country is being taken advantage of. God Bless America.

Speak Spanish

Absolutely not! No other groups of immigrants have asked for this in the past, maybe because they were legal and wanted to be a citizen. I think it is discrimination and it’s time for someone who has been affected by this to bring it to light! I’m so sick of these illegals, especially the Hispanics who dare to march for rights in my country that I could scream!!! I still say to deport them all regardless of country of origin!
